Randomness, Amphibians that never grow old!

Here at Lol.inc we've been too busy gloating at our success and posting Youtube links to talk about anything random. So I'm going to talk about a random animal for a change.

Axolotls live somewhere in south america... Or in asia. I really don't know. They are part of a group of giant salamanders. Well, everyone knows that baby frogs are tadpoles, and they grow up from there? Well, the same goes for newts. The metamorphosis is triggered by a chemical from the thyroid gland, somewhere in the throat of the animal. Humans have them too. To get thyroid glands to work you need some iodine. Axolotls live in a place with no iodine in the water, so the species evolved to never grow up. They kind of mature as kids, so a pregnant axolotl is like a pregnant teenager.
Sometimes pet axolotls get fed iodine by accident. When they grow up they become land lubbin' salamanders, and lead an unsuccessful life.
